Troops in Truong Sa Archipelago have a breakfast with the specialty Pho from the capital Hanoi. And the maker of that specialty is chef Vu Ngoc Vuong.
Hanoi’s specialty in Truong Sa Archipelago
Vu Ngoc Vuong is the owner of Ngoc Vuong Pho stall in Thanh Cong ward, Hanoi. Having accepting an invitation from his friend, a reporter from the Vietnam News Agency, the chef brought Hanoi Pho to Truong Sa Archipelago early this May.
To ensure the tasty flavour of Pho like that in the mainland, Vu Ngoc Vuong spent nearly one week preparing and transporting fresh ingredients, including rice noodles, beef and pork bones, beef, garlic, lemon, chilly, onion and 10 cans of well-done broth from both Hanoi and HCM City.
Though feeling seasick on the first two days of the journey, the chef did his best to put on a feast for cadres and troops on the islands.
The feeling of local people
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Viet Xuan, Deputy Head of Son Ca Island, confided that local troops were eager to taste the Hanoi specialty when they learned that their breakfast would include Pho prepared by a chef from Hanoi.
“Hanoi Pho is great. Its flavour is unique. On behalf of the troops, I thanked artisan Vu Ngoc Vuong for a delicious and meaningful breakfast”, Xuan said.
Hanoi Pho, together with other specialties across the country, has made islands in Truong Sa Archipelago closer to the mainland, contributing to encouraging the troops to firmly protect national sovereignty over its sea and islands.
